Late last year I had the pleasure of working with a very talented singer from Romania named INNA. We shot a video for her super fun song called More Than Friends! The video was shot on the beaches of Los Angeles and at a beautiful mansion in the hills of Malibu. INNA is naturally beautiful so I chose a fresh clean makeup for the beach scenes. As the party progresses later into the evening I amped up the look with a bright pink gloss and a bronze/gold eye shadow.
I have used every brush cleaner known to man. Most of which contain harsh chemicals in them that destroy the natural hair of the brushes so I usually just end up using regular shampoo. That is until I tried The London Brush Company’s Pure Goat Milk Solid Brush Cleaner a few months ago. I picked up a 1oz container at Nigel Beauty Emporium and was blown away by how clean and soft my brushes were. I am now on my 3rd container. This stuff is that good!
The creator of this wonderful product is accomplished makeup artist Sian Richards of The London Brush Company. These brushes are a staple in my makeup kit and are hand crafted in Great Britain. Sian has 22 years of experience as a movie makeup artist and you can check out her latest work in the new movie Cloud Atlas starring Halle Berry.
This brush cleaner is a MUST for any professional makeup artist or makeup aficionado. Pick yours up at www.londonbrushcompany.com
Sticking with the Halloween theme today. I was flipping through some old pics and came across some makeup I did in 2009. Now, Halloween makeup isn’t exactly my thing, but when my grandma asked me to turn her into a witch with makeup, I couldn’t resist. I spent a few days trying to come up with a look that would really transform her with out using prosthetics. I called my grandma the next day and said “Can I paint you green?” I was pretty shocked that she said yes! I asked again just to make sure I wasn’t hearing things. She really said yes! My grandma ended up winning the costume contest that night. This was one of funnest makeups I have done and it was extra special cause it was with my grandma.
My girl, China Anne McClain dropped her NEW music video for her smash hit song “Calling All The Monsters” a few weeks ago and is #3 on the iTunes video charts! I have been getting a ton of request asking me what I used to create China’s look for the video. This video was one of the best videos I have ever worked on, the energy was amazing and even though it was two 12 hour days, you would have never guessed, cause we had that much fun!
China is naturally beautiful and doesn’t require much makeup. So I wanted to do something playful and young. To get China’s Calling All The Monsters makeup, just follow the few easy steps below!
Step #1: Moisturize skin with Dermalogica Active Moist all over face and let it soak into the skin for a few minutes. Apply a shimmering bronzer to the high planes of the face like the cheek bones, bridge of nose, forehead and chin. I used IMAN Sheer Finish Bronzer in Clay. This bronzer adds a beautiful golden luminous glow to the skin.
This post is for my makeup artist followers! I did a beauty shoot with Giuliano Bekor a couple of weeks ago and wanted to share one of my favorite looks from the shoot. This is more of an extreme look but I think it is very beautiful.
Check out the amazing Giuliano Bekor’s new blog. Giuliano and I have been shooting like crazy lately, working on a coffee table book and an exhibitions. We have spent the last 3 days underwater which is not a territory I am familiar with. I decided to put Make Up For Ever’s Aqua makeup colors to the test and see how well they really held up under harsh water conditions. I was very pleased with how well the makeup held up while being under water. We shot a total of 26 models over 3 days and here is a sample of our efforts.
MAC Cosmetics has just launched an amazing NEW product range. I got to try these acrylic paints at the Makeup Trade show back in June. These body paint liquids come in 10 different shades and are mixable. They adhere to the skin like no other body painting product I have ever seen. I recently used these on a underwater shoot and after we were done shooting, the makeup was completely the same. The MAC Acrylic Paints are available at the MAC PRO locations only!
